The Birdhouse Family Festival celebrates the on-set of summer in Cleethorpes, with an amazing indoor and outdoor programme of events and activities for children and their families.
Taking place over the Spring break (May) half term, the festival makes the most of the resort and all it has to offer, by placing some of the UK’s leading theatre companies and performers in a variety of accessible locations for your enjoyment.
See leading street theatre acts, enjoy indoor family shows, take part in interactive story-telling and craft activity and watch high quality outdoor performances all in this mainly free programme.

The Submercycle & The Flycycle

Take a journey of your wildest dreams, aboard these famous traveling machines, The Submercycle and The Flycycle!

Choose a traveling companion, find the Departure Lounge and Pif Paf will take care of the rest. These vehicles take two at a time and dress you in hats, so make the most of that!

With Captain Bigshot, you’ll fly up up and away or go with Captain Calypso under the sea.

The Giant Balloon Show

These guys got skills! Join circus specialists Dizzy O’Dare, as they present a high energy comic performance which includes the creation of a giant balloon

Two Old Men

Two Old Men is a tale of two old friends created and danced by internationally acclaimed 2Faced Dance Company. This is a story about two men’s extraordinary experiences, eccentric behaviour and witty tales. Featuring 2Faced Dance Company’s trademark fusion of break, street and contemporary dance, Two Old Men is twenty minutes of adrenalin fuelled, heart in the mouth acrobatics that will leave you wanting more.

Mr & Mr Burn

This new solo show is built around a comic and musical world containing original live and looped music played on trombone, tuba, baritone ukulele and electronic drums. Add clowning and puppetry – what could go wrong?

Experience the fun and frolics of our sea-side themed walkabout act, the Postcard Posers.

Another chance to see and hear ‘loopy’ creativity again, at its finest!

Big Dippers

Grab your bucket and spade and hold onto your swim-hats as The Big Dippers set off on their splendid seaside adventures!

The Hut People

This is a show like nothing you’ve ever seen before – expect feel-good dancing tunes, audience participation, step dancing, Quebecois foot-percussion (whilst playing the accordion!) and humour aplenty.

James Campbell’s Stand Up Comedy for Kids –
The Funny Things

A stand-up show for children over 6, their parents and anyone who likes comedy without the rude words.

Hold on to your socks, take the banana out of your ears and enjoy the best comedy for kids from the man who invented it. James Campbell also writes the hilarious Boyface books; has appeared on TV programmes such as Blue Peter and has performed at the Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, on Broadway and the West End and even a tiny tent on the back of a hamster.

James’ show will find The Funny Things about everything including pets, couscous, spaniels, making your own yoghurt, bees, why we have hair and will answer questions such as:

This show might include stories of lollipop ladies, giant catapults, and some of the worst drawings in the world including this terrible picture of a Labrador that looks more like Darth Vader.

James Campbell pioneered the idea of stand-up for children, and it is still genuinely impressive to watch him hold the attention of a theatre full of six-to 11-year-olds for an hour with nothing but a microphone – The Guardian

An intergalactic space adventure with shadow play, gadgets and cats in space.

Miss Amelia Buttersnap, investigator of all things unseen and mysterious, inventor of gadgets both marvellous and improbable is on a mission to prove that aliens really do exist.

With her Translator Device, her Teleporter Machine and her trusty cat Tibbles she sets off in her home-made rocket on an a rip-roaring intergalactic journey.

Are the Aliens friend or foe? Why do the aliens want to steal all the earth’s fluffy things? And how do you drink a cup of tea in space?
